Afterpay review big data

  • Overall 4.9 star average rating from 56,846 reviews published at Trustpilot
  • Overall 4.1 star average rating from 2,394 reviews published at Product Review

Our Afterpay review findings

We were impressed with Afterpay's mobile app and its fairly seamless interface. It seems to integrate well into retailers' check out pages (we experienced 1-2 minor hiccups).

The $30 discount is applied after selecting to pay by Afterpay at the partner retailers' check out page and is reasonably visible and straightforward.

One reason we'll probably continue to use Afterpay is to lengthen repayment - 4 equal instalments each fortnight billed to a (points earning) credit card that provides up to a further 55 days to pay, allows our cash more time to work in investments or earn bank interest (1%, sweet!).

Previously, we gave buy now pay later solutions a skip, and just stuck with using credit or debit cards, but having tried it out now, we're starting to understand the popularity.

Positives

  • No credit checks – so doesn't affect credit score
  • Zero interest, no establishment fees
  • Seamless integration in store and online with large merchant base

Negatives

  • $10 late fee, and a further $7 if the instalment remains unpaid 7 days after the due date
  • May affect serviceability calculations if applying for a loan

Notes and tips

The voucher will be applied automatically to the Afterpay account making the online or in-store purchase using Afterpay. It won't be reflected in the merchant receipt, but will show in your Afterpay receipt. Limited to one voucher per customer.

You can make repayments to Afterpay any time before the due date. Otherwise, Afterpay will automatically process payments on the scheduled dates from your linked card.

Afterpay is a buy now pay later brand. Buy now pay later allows you to pay by instalments over time, instead of paying the full amount upfront.

You don't have to wait to get your hands on the purchase however (unlike lay-buy).
